The New York University men's golf team wrapped up its opening weekend with a 13th-place finish at the Duke Nelson Invitational, which was hosted by Middlebury College on Saturday and Sunday, September 9-10, at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course in Middlebury.
After shooting 314 on Saturday and ending the first round in 18th place, the Violets improved to 13th place with a round of 297 on Sunday.
Newcomer Joymuth Luangtana-anan, who was NYU's low scorer on a Saturday with a two-over-par 73, shot a two-under 69 on Sunday and finished in a tie for third place.
After shooting 79 on Saturday, captain Kevin Kim improved to a 76 on Sunday and tied for 63rd place.
Rohan Aerrabolu was NYU's third scorer, shooting 156 (77-79) and tying for 72nd place.
Ryan Leung improved by 10 strokes on Sunday (85-75) and finished tied for 95th.
"I thought the guys really settled in today after some early first-round jitters," said Head Coach Brad Johnson. "Today, they stayed focus on being present throughout the round."
Overall, 24 teams and 122 golfers competed.
