Second Half Goals Lead Tartans to 2-0 Start

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team moved its record to 2-0 with a 3-0 victory at home against Allegheny College which dropped to 0-2. Senior Josh Baugh scored twice for the Tartans for the second straight game.

Inside The Box Score

  • The score was knotted at 0-0 at the end of the first half with sophomore Liam Ryan having to make one stop in the period while the Tartans were turned away twice.
  • Junior Billy Boucuvalas started the scoring four minutes and 41 seconds into the second half when he dribbled forward in the center of the field before changing directions on the defender to take a right-footed shot to the upper right corner.
  • Baugh scored the next two goals with his first coming six minutes later in the 56 minute. The senior beat the keeper to a ball that was bouncing high around the six-yard box for a tap in.
  • The final goal of the game came after junior Kyle Raker played a long pass from the midline down the right sideline where junior Jake Slackman ran onto it and one-touched a low pass across the box for Baugh who charged in unmarked for a one-touch finish.
  • Ryan finished the 90 minutes with two saves to earn his first shutout of the season.

Notes

  • With Baugh's two goals, he now has four for the season which matches his career-best.
  • Boucuvalas now has three game-winning goals for his career.
