University of Chicago's top-ranked and defending-National Champion men's soccer program notched a 4-2 win over No. 14 St. Olaf to begin the 2023 season.
St. Olaf netted first inside five minutes, but Ryan Yetishefsky responded with a goal on the 10-minute mark, assisted by Robbie Pino, to even the score at 1-all. Yetishefsky added to his tally in the 24th minute with an unassisted goal to put UChicago ahead.
In the 32nd minute, Yetishefsky completed his hat-trick with a third goal on a corner from Jack Leuker. All three tallies came in a 22-minute span for the senior who scored the game-winning goal in double overtime of the National Semifinal in 2022.
The Oles drew a foul in the box and converted a penalty to get back within one, however the Maroon defense tightened up to end the first half. A strong defensive second half and a late goal from Pino in the 85th secured UChicago the 4-2 win.
