Emory Participates in USC Indoor Open

From Emory University Athletics

The Emory University Men's Track and Field Team sent a group of six athletes to Columbia, South Carolina Saturday to participate in the University of South Carolina Open. Emory was just one of more than 50 teams to make the trip to the meet that did not feature team scoring.

Junior Zion Kidd and sophomore Jacob Solomon sprinted in the 60m Dash and the 200m Dash. Solomon just barely edged Kidd in the 60m Dash, before Kidd was able to outrun his teammate in the 200m Dash. Solomon's time of 7.42 earned him 45th-place out of 58 racers, while Kidd crossed in 7.46 to land two places behind (47th). Kidd made his season debut in the 200m Dash (23.38, 50th out of 70) and bested Solomon by four-tenths of a second (23.78, 62nd-place). The 60m Hurdles saw sophomores Lucas Werner and Graham Scott take 13th and 19th-place, respectively. Werner finished in 8.80, while Scott did it in 9.51. Sophomore Jason Berger represented Emory in the Men's 800m Run (2:12.65, 37th out of 45).

In the field, the lone competitor for the Eagles was freshman pole vaulter Patrick Osborne, who cleared the bar set at 4.15 to land in 10th-place out of 15 in what was a talented field of opponents.
