Tiya Chowdary Finishes in Top-10, Violets Tie for 10th at Jekyll Island

Tiya Chowdary tied for sixth place out of 120 individuals as New York University's women's golf team tied for 10th as a team after the third and final round of the Jekyll Island Invitational on Sunday in Jekyll Island, Georgia at the par-72, 5,600-yard Indian Mound course at the Jekyll Island Golf Club.

Chowdary, a rookie, claimed her fourth consecutive top-10 finish after shooting a four-over 76 today. Her three-round total of 223 tied with two others and was five strokes behind the top spot.

Irene Park was the only other Violet among the top 50, shooting 82 today for a total score of 239 which tied for 43rd. Nalinda Wanikpun (t-60th, 242) and Camilla Chung (71st, 246) rounded out NYU's scorers.

Stephanie Su was the Violets' fifth competitor, placing 100th with a three-day score of 257.

University of Redlands won the 24-team tournament with 901 strokes over the three rounds. NYU's total of 945 tied with Denison University and was 10 strokes behind ninth-place Washington & Lee University.
