Case Western Reserve University junior midfielder Anika Washburn has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Division III Women's Soccer First Team for the second-straight season, based on her outstanding achievements both on the pitch and in the classroom.

By virtue of being named to the Academic All-District First Team, Washburn will be placed on the ballot for the Academic All-America team, with first-, second-, and third teams to be announced on Wednesday, July 7th.

This is the second career Academic All-District honor for Washburn.

Washburn started all 17 games for the Spartans during her sophomore campaign in 2019, as she led the team with 33 points on 14 goals and five assists. She also contributed a team-high seven game-winning goals throughout the season. Washburn's 14 goals and 33 points were a new single-season program record, while her seven game winning goals were also a program record. In addition, she earned UAA Offensive Athlete of the Week honors on three separate occasions during the season.

For her efforts during the year, Washburn was named to the D3Soccer.com All-America Second Team, the All-University Athletic Association First Team, and the All-Great Lakes Region First Team, while also being selected as the UAA Offensive Player of the Year in 2019.

Washburn carries a 3.96 cumulative grade point average as a Computer Science major at CWRU and has received UAA All-Academic honors twice in her career.

Voting for the Academic All-District team is conducted by members of CoSIDA. Case Western Reserve is a part of District 7, which includes Division III student-athletes from colleges in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.
