From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

Five members of the Case Western Reserve University women’s soccer team earned United Soccer Coaches All-America or All-Region honors, as announced by the organization on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Graduate student forward Camryn Hartman was named to the All-America First Team, and senior defender/forward Merry Meyer earned All-America Third Team honors. Hartman, Meyer, and senior midfielder Anika Washburn were all named to the All-Region VII First Team, with senior defender Elizabeth White earning All-Region Second Team honors, and junior goalkeeper Maggie Storti named to the All-Region Third Team.

Hartman becomes the second CWRU women’s soccer player to receive First Team honors, after Washburn in 2021. Hartman and Meyer become the fourth and fifth players in the program’s history to be named to an All-America Team by the United Soccer Coaches. Former Spartans Sue Waniewski (1992, Third Team) and Kendra Simmons (2011, Third Team) were the previous honorees.

Hartman, playing in her first season at Case Western Reserve after four seasons with the University of Cincinnati, earned her first career All-America, All-Region, and All-University Athletic Association honors in 2022. She leads the CWRU offensive attack with a team-high 13 goals and 36 points and is tied for the team lead with 10 assists. Her 36 points are second most in a single season in program history, her 10 assists tie a single season program record, and her 13 goals are third most in a single season in program history. She has registered a point in 17 of the team’s 20 games this season, including all four postseason matches.

Meyer, who was named to the All-Great Lakes Region Second Team in 2019, was a first-time All-UAA First Team honoree this season. She scored two goals in conference play which were both game-winning goals in 1-0 CWRU victories and has three goals and three assists overall on the season. She is also a member of the Case Western Reserve defense that has allowed 0.65 goals per match.

Washburn earned her third All-Region First Team honors after previous appearances on the team in 2019 and 2021. Earlier in the year, she was named to the All-UAA First Team for the third consecutive season, becoming the first player in program history to be named to three All-UAA First Teams. In 12 matches this season, including eight starts, she has scored three goals and added six assists. For her career, she holds the program records for goals (34), points (87), and game-winning goals (12), the last of which she set during the 2022 season. She is also tied for the program career record with 21 assists.

White, earning her first career All-Region honors, is a key player on the Spartan backline, starting all 20 matches for CWRU this season. The Case Western Reserve defense shut out half of its opponents so far this season, allowing just 13 goals across 1,800 minutes.

Storti, who was named to the All-Region Second Team last season, earned her first career All-UAA First Team honors this season. The junior goalkeeper has started every match for the Spartans in 2022, allowing just 12 goals and saving 80.3% of the shots she faced in nearly 1,700 minutes while recording seven shutouts individually and being a part of three team shutouts. Storti has set both the single-season (19) and career records (36) for goalkeeper wins during the 2022 campaign.
