From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

The eighth-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team used two goals within a minute of each other early in the first half to defeat Oberlin College 2-0 at DiSanto Field in Cleveland on Wednesday night.

The Spartans continued their season without a loss, improving to 4-0-1 on the campaign, while the Yeowomen fell to 3-2-0. Case Western Reserve extended its non-conference unbeaten streak to 38 matches with the victory.

The match was scoreless until the 15th minute, when sophomore midfielder Ceci Dapino scored her first goal of the season. She received the ball about 35 yards from the goal and dribbled into the box past two defenders. Dapino then fired a shot low and into the corner to put CWRU on the board. The goal was the fourth of her career.

Just 54 seconds later, sophomore midfielder Jamie Goldfarb doubled the home team's advantage with her first goal of the season. She dispossessed an Oberlin defender, pushed the ball into the box past another one, and shot the ball into the lower far corner of the net to make the score 2-0 in the 16th minute. It was her fourth career goal.

Neither team was able to alter the score in the second half, with the Yeowomen recording six shots in the frame and the Spartans contributing seven. Overall, CWRU held a 16-8 advantage in shots and 6-4 edge in shots on goal. Goldfarb and sophomore forward Alexis Sassower each had a team-high three shots in the match.

Senior goalkeeper Maggie Storti recorded four saves in the contest to earn her third shutout of the season. It was her 21st career shutout in CWRU Blue, matching the program record set by Anna Kennedy from 2008-11.
