The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Championships on Saturday. The two-day championship meet is being hosted by the University of Chicago. The Tartans have 35 points and are currently third heading into the final day.
Top Performances in the Field:
- Senior Liz Barre won the UAA title in the long jump, as she broke her previous school record jump of 5.52 meters when she leapt 5.86 meters.
- Sophomore Katie Monahan took second in the hammer with a throw of 42.08 meters. The sophomore then placed third in the shot put tossing the element 12.40 meters.
Top Performances on the Track:
- Barre advanced to the finals in the 100-meter hurdles after crossing with a time of 14.52 in the preliminaries.
- Senior Samantha Giordani qualified for the finals of the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash with times of 12.38 and 25.44.
- Freshman Alexa Lowe ran a season-best time of 1:08.39 in the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles and qualifies for the finals on Sunday.
