The New York University tenth-ranked men's swimming team began competition on Wednesday at the NCAA Division III National Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina, with a splash.

Collecting one podium finish, four Second Team All-American swims, and a program record on the first day, the Violets will begin Day 2 in ninth place. Second-ranked Emory University currently sits in first, #1 Kenyon in second.

Thomas Pritchard started the meet off with a sixth-place, First Team All-American finish in the 500 freestyle. He clocked 4:26.75 to represent the Violets on the top-eight podium.

Connor Vincent won the consolation final in 4:23.65, placing ninth overall. Dropping over two seconds from his personal best, he set a program record by 0.35 seconds to break Graham Chatoor's one-year-old record.

"Connor had an awesome 500 to win the consolation and set another school record," Head Coach Trevor Miele said. "Thomas had a solid swim, picking up a great number of points for the team."

Jaeden-Hans Yburan finished 10th in the 200 individual medley in 1:48.18, shaving 0.06 seconds off his personal record from the University Athletic Association Championships less than a month ago.

"Jaeden really stepped it up and put in an impressive performance to deliver another best time," Miele said.

Ajay Watanakun was 15th in the 50 freestyle, hitting the wall in 20.30.

The 200 medley relay, consisting of Leo Han in backstroke, James Yan in breaststroke, Watanakun in butterfly, and David Basin in freestyle, finished 14th with a time of 1:29.66.

Vincent, Yburan, Watanakun, and the relay team all posted Second Team All-American swims.
