The New York University tenth-ranked men's swimming team made it to the top-eight podium in two events on Thursday, the second day of the NCAA National Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Making the final in his first collegiate Nationals, Leo Han placed eighth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48.09.

"Leo's had a tremendous year," Head Coach Trevor Miele said. "He went after it tonight and fell off a little in the back half, but he had a long day and he's got a lot more swimming ahead of him. I'm expecting him to keep getting faster as the meet goes on."

In the 200 freestyle, Nathaniel Yeoh finished sixth in 1:37.97 after going a career-best 1:37.79 in the time trial session earlier in the day. He joins Han as First Team All-Americans.

The 200 freestyle relay team also made it back to the finals. Led off by Han and followed by Ajay WatanakunDavid Basin, and Yeoh, the group placed 16th overall in 1:22.39 to become Second Team All-Americans.

"Nobody expected us to make it back," senior Basin commented. "But we all believed in each other and put in the work, and we did it."

"Overall, we swam really well," Miele said. "This is the biggest stage and everything we've done this year is to prepare to swim fast. It's been a big goal of ours since the University Athletic Association Championships and we've worked towards this every day. Our team has put in hard training all year long, and it pays off here. We're where we need to be."

The team is currently in 14th place. Top-ranked Kenyon College is in first, followed by second-ranked Emory University in second.
