From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

The Case Western Reserve University softball team earned Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Academic Team honors for the 2021-22 academic year, finishing with the fourth-best grade point average among NCAA Division III softball teams.

The Spartans earned a 3.722 overall GPA for the 2021-22 school year. Their placement in the top five of Division III was the first for the program since the 2014-15 academic year, when the team placed fifth.

The rankings recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across seven membership divisions.

In addition, 13 members of the team were named Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes. To earn the honor, student-athletes must have earned a GPA greater than 3.5 for the academic year. The Spartan honorees included seniors Liv Thomas and Grace Yeung, junior Carli Tucci, sophomores Savannah Gazda, KaiLi Gross, Kela Jagoda, Kaila Nutter, Stevie Rieger, Elise Rolston, and Abbey Rzeszutko, and first-years Kylie Hosey, Katelyn Lamm, and Lexi Miskey. In Division III, 2,227 student-athletes were named All-America Scholar-Athletes.

Case Western Reserve finished the 2022 season with a record of 30-12, the fourth time the program eclipsed the 30-win mark in a single season, and finished 13th in the final NFCA Top 25 Poll. The Spartans reached the Super Regional Round of the 2022 NCAA Division III Softball Championship after winning the Cleveland Regional at Mather Park. It was the second time CWRU has reached the Super Regional Round since 2018.
