The No. 25 Washington University in St. Louis softball team continued its UAA winning streaking with a 7-2 win over Case Western Reserve University on Friday afternoon. The Bears are now 17-4 on the season and 5-0 in conference play heading into tomorrow's doubleheader with the Spartans.

It was a scoreless game until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Bears exploded for five runs.

With one out, senior Nicole Hay singled to right center and advanced to second on a Payton Irwin single down the left field line.

In the next at-bat, Eimear Cunningham singled up the middle, moving the runners up a base. Hay went on to score on an error, giving WashU a 1-0 edge.

Katie Gould followed with a single through the left side to load the bases for the Bears. First-year Maggie Baumstark then stepped to the plate and drilled a grand slam to bring in Olivia Craycraft, who was running for Cunningham, Irwin and Gould, pushing the Bears lead to 5-0.

After three quick Case outs, the Bears added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

With two outs, Cunningham drew a walk and Gould singled to short, putting a runner in scoring position. Baumstark continued to have the hot bat, blasting a double to left center, bringing in both runners to give the Bears a 7-0 lead.

Case recorded its first hits of the game in the top of the seventh inning, resulting in two runs.

Stevie Rieger led off with a single to left center. With one out, Jordon Manworren doubled to right center, bringing in Rieger. Then, with two outs, Bella Russo drew a walk. Grace Yueng singled up the middle, bringing in Manworren before WashU ended the game by throwing Russo out at third.

Gould finished 3-for-4 with two runs while Baumstark went 2-for-4 with six RBI and one run. Cunningham finished 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored.

In the circle, Holly Stoner picked up her seventh win of the season – tying her season-best – pitching a complete game with three hits, two runs and three strikeouts. Stoner had a no-hitter going until the final inning of the game.
