Emory University women's basketball senior Allison Chernow (Dresher, PA) has been selected to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 18th annual  "So You Want To Be A Coach" program. Chernow is one of 62 women's basketball players throughout the country who will participate in the three-day workshop with speakers provided by WeCOACH on April 2-4 in conjunction with the WBCA Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana. The 'So" program is run by the WBCA in partnership with WeCOACH.

The objectives of the "So" program are to increase the understanding and application of skills necessary to secure coaching positions in women's basketball, increase the understanding and awareness of competencies necessary for success in coaching, introduce female basketball players to coaches and administrators, and raise awareness of the existing talent pool of female basketball players who have a passion and interest in coaching the game of women's basketball.

A four-year member of the Eagles program, Chernow has appeared in 95 contests, 58 as a starter, and ranks 16th on the school's all-time scoring list with 878 points. A 2018-29 All-University Athletic Association Second Team honoree, she has produced 41 double-figure scoring performances during her collegiate tenure and is tied for the No. 6 spot on Emory's career chart with 121 three-point field goals.

" 'So' is the entry point for women's basketball players who want to coach", WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew said. "Because of their participation in it, hundreds of former college women's basketball players are working or have worked as coaches or in some role in our sport.  Our partnership with WeCOACH enables us to make this program even better."

Chernow is the third Emory women's basketball player to participate, joining Eagle Head Coach Misha Jackson and current Middlebury College assistant coach Savannah Morgan, who played with the Eagles from 2010 through 2014.
