Veronica Fong’s Three-Meter Title Highlights UChicago's Day One of NCAA Diving Regional

University of Chicago's Veronica Fong won the three-meter dive championship on the first day of the NCAA Diving Regional on Friday.

Seven Maroon divers were in action inside the friendly confines of the Myers-McLoraine Pool, vying for the opportunity to qualify for the upcoming NCAA Division III Championships.

The women's three-meter board was up first with 34 total participants. Fong made her NCAA Regional debut a memorable one, as she blew away the field with a winning margin of 50 points. The Maroon rookie's winning score was 479.35 points.

Cynthia Tang claimed third place with 425.05 points, Lauren Miller was 12th with 372 points and Nayna Pashilkar took 15th with 369 points.

A total of 33 men's divers were in competition on the one-meter board in the late afternoon and early evening. Andrew Chen impressed throughout as the senior took runner-up with 461.60 points. Logan Sherwin secured eighth place with 427.10 points and Tim Sun was 24th with 366 points.
