University of Chicago women's tennis player Sylwia Mikos and Head Coach Jay Tee were both feted with national awards from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Wednesday.

Mikos was named the ITA Rookie of the Year in NCAA Division III. The Maroon first-year was a dominant force at the top of the singles and doubles lineup throughout the fall and spring seasons. She kicked off her collegiate career by winning the ITA Central Region singles and doubles titles back in September. At the ITA Cup, Mikos and doubles partner Shianna Guo took second place in the tournament.

Mikos and Guo formed one of the top doubles tandems in the nation, posting a 34-5 record overall and achieving All-American status. They qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championship and advanced to the semifinals. Mikos also claimed All-American honors in singles with a 27-5 overall mark, which included a 19-match winning streak during the spring. She was also a perfect 17-0 at No. 1 singles in dual matches. At the end of the season, Mikos reached the NCAA quarterfinals in the national singles bracket.

Among her received accolades, Mikos has been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Player of the Year, UAA Rookie of the Year, First Team All-UAA (singles and doubles) and ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year.

Tee was selected as the Wilson ITA National Coach of the Year. In his 10th year at the helm, Tee guided the UChicago women's team to the best season in program history. The Maroons won a program-record 22-straight matches en route to a 22-2 overall record for the season. They advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship final and took national runner-up for the second time, equaling the 2012 squad's finish.

During the course of the season, UChicago captured its first-ever ITA Indoor National Championship, first-ever No. 1 national ranking and third UAA championship. Mikos and Guo combined to received four All-American awards. Tee was recognized as the UAA Coach of the Year for both the men and the women, as well as the Wilson ITA Central Region Women's Coach of the Year.

As head coach of the UChicago men's and women's teams, Tee has a career dual-match record of 294-99. His squads have reached the NCAA quarterfinals 11 times, the NCAA semifinals six times and the NCAA finals twice.
