University of Chicago women's tennis teammates Sylwia Mikos and Shianna Guo continued their run at day two of the NCAA Division III Individual Championships on Saturday.
Mikos, who was the No. 1 seed in the NCAA singles bracket, faced off with Elle Christensen (Tufts University) in the quarterfinals. Christensen grabbed the first set 6-3 and outlasted Mikos in the second-set tiebreaker 7-6 (7-3). Mikos achieved All-American status in singles this year and concluded with a 27-5 overall record.
Later in the afternoon, the No. 2-seeded duo of Mikos and Guo played their quarterfinal doubles match against conference foes Hannah Kassaie and Lily McCloskey (Case Western Reserve University). The Maroons earned a 7-5, 6-2 victory to move on to Sunday's semifinals.
