UChicago Women’s Tennis Reaches NCAA Quarterfinals With 5-0 Win Over Grinnell

The University of Chicago women's tennis team rolled through the NCAA Division III Championship regional final with a 5-0 triumph against Grinnell College on Saturday.

The No. 1-ranked Maroons (20-1 record) advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the 10th time in program history. The No. 35-ranked Pioneers concluded their season with a 20-7 record.

In doubles action, UChicago flexed its muscles with a clean sweep. The No. 1 pairing of senior Eugenia Lee and junior Claudia Ng claimed an 8-3 win. The No. 2 team of first-year Sylwia Mikos and junior Perene Wang secured an 8-2 victory. First-year Nicole Geller and senior Lauren Park blanked their No. 3 opponents by an 8-0 margin.

The Maroons then turned around and ended things quickly in singles. Senior Lauren Park only surrendered one game at No. 5 (6-1, 6-0) while fellow senior Annika Pandey was similarly dominant at No. 6 with two games allowed (6-1, 6-1). The matchup ended once the fifth team point achieved.
