The 14th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team played 13th-ranked Case Western Reserve University in the fifth-place match of the University Athletic Association (UAA) on Saturday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Tartans topped the Spartans 5-1 and are now 19-5 on the season while the Spartans move to 14-5.
Inside the Results:
- The Tartans took a 2-1 lead following doubles play.
- The third duo of Sophomore Zoe Angell and freshman Anna Chow won 8-7 (5) shortly before the tandem of freshmen Manuela Van Cotthem and Divya Venkatarama won 8-6 at two.
- Junior Danna Taylor made the score 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-4 win at second singles.
- The Cardinal and Gray then took a 4-1 advantage when Joshi won at six singles by the scores of 6-3, 6-3.
- Sophomore Crystal Zhou then clinched the match with a 6-1, 7-5 victory in the three spot.
Notes:
- The 19 wins for the Tartans ties for the third most in a single-season.
