Sylwia Mikos of UChicago Claims Third Consecutive ITA Central Regional Singles Championship

The UChicago women's tennis team traveled to St. Louis this weekend for the ITA Central Regionals. The Maroons started the season off strong, going 36-5 against non-UChicago competition this weekend and claiming both single and doubles championships.

Third-Year Sylwia Mikos claimed the Central Regional singles crown and booked her ticket to the ITA Cup, which will be held in Rome, Georgia October 12-16.  In the finals, Mikos defeated Hannah Kassaie of Case Western 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. Sylwia Mikos is now a three-time regional champion.

Additionally, Oliwia Mikos made it the regional quarterfinals, while Shianna Guo and Nicole Geller both made it to the round of 16.  Rena Lin won the Red draw and Brooke Pedersen won the yellow draw.

In double action, the finals will feature two UChicago pairs for the third year in a row. This year, defending champions Shianna Guo and Sylwia Mikos will take on Maroon newcomers Rena Lin and Oliwia Mikos.The match will take place Monday at 1:30 PM on the Stagg Tennis Courts in Chicago.
