Haley Holz of NYU Earns Academic All-America Honors

From NYU Athletics

Haley Holz has capped an outstanding senior campaign by being selected as a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America honoree.

Formerly known as CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), the organization recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletics and academia. The CSC Academic All‐America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

In order to qualify for CSC Academic All-America, student-athletes must be chosen as an All-District honoree. Holz received that distinction last month, which goes to starters or important reserves (having played in at least 50 percent of the team's games), with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

"Haley is such a balanced student-athlete, and that has been apparent since the first day she stepped on campus," said Head Coach Andrew Brown. "She sets the standard in our program when it comes to NYU and NCAA Division III being the perfect balance between academic excellence and volleyball prestige. It has been an honor to coach such a motivated player."

Holz earned Second Team Academic All-America honors following a season in which she helped lead the Violets to a spot in the Final Four of the NCAA Division III Championship for the first time since 2004. NYU went 29-7 in 2022, with Holz capturing a myriad of honors:

  • AVCA First Team All-American
  • AVCA Region 4 Player of the Year
  • NCAA All-Tournament Team
  • NCAA Tournament All-Region
  • All-ECAC First Team
  • ECAC Metro Offensive Player of the Month – October
  • First Team All-UAA
  • 4x UAA Athlete of the Week –Offense
  • UAA Fall Sport All-Academic
  • NYU Invitational Most Valuable Player
  • Pacific Coast Classic All-Tournament Team

Holz led the University Athletic Association (UAA) in kills (370) and kills per set (470), and currently ranks fifth on NYU's all-time list with 1,114 career kills.
