University of Chicago's women's volleyball program continued its dramatic 2022 campaign with a comeback victory in five sets over Texas Lutheran on Thursday in the opening round of the 2022 Division III Women's Volleyball Championship.

The Maroons, which have now played in 10 five-set matches in 2022, erased a 2-0 set deficit to storm back and claim the five-set win over Texas Lutheran. In the process, UChicago notched its first NCAA Tournament win away from home since 2013.

UChicago fell to TLU 25-15 and 25-17, respectively in the opening two sets. The Maroons then turned the momentum in their favor in set three with a tight 25-22 victory. UChicago proved clutch again in the fourth set with a 25-23 victory, setting the stage for the fifth set. Ahead 13-12, Maggie McInerney finished the final two kills while TLU traded points to secure the 15-13 win.

McInerney racked up 20 kills and collected 13 digs. Emma Lotts, a California native, posted her best line of the season with nine kills and a .444 attack percentage. Ellie Alden and Diya Mishra both had double-digit kills in the middle with 15 and 11, respectively. Maya Patel dished out 36 assists while Maddie Ryan finished with 19. Julia Craig racked up 28 digs, a season-high.
